I have this perfect-to-me comfy spot in my house, which next to my garden, is my favorite spot in the house…comfy yellow lounging chairs and a book cabinet with some of our favorite things; a variety of books, pictures, and doo dads tucked into it.
The chairs are surrounded by windows that look out over the front, south side and back of our property. When I look towards the east, I can see through french doors that lead into the dining room, to more windows where I can see the snow on our local mountains. It also serves as the perfect height perch for our dog to keep track of all neighborhood cat activity going on outside.
Last year, after leaving my job, I really struggled to get a grip on my day. If left to my own devices, I apparently have no trouble doing virtually nothing all day! This room turned out to be one of the main contributing factors to my new found sloth, as staying in it all day seemed to suit me fine! I didn’t realize this would be my way given the chance. I needed it at first, to find some peace in my heart and calm my mind, but at some point, I had to get my act together.
Currently I use this space for my morning routine, following the guidelines laid out in Hal Elrod’s,(#af) The Miracle Morning. The routine includes getting up earlier than normal and following steps each day, known as SAVERS; silence, affirmations, visualization, exercise, reading and scribing.
I have gone from having no time to read at all last year, to reading daily as a part of my SAVERS routine. I have read 10 books since November! I love making this a priority right now. Lucky for me, I have the perfect spot to do these things in each day and as a result of doing them each day, I have the energy and ambition to then get my ass out of that comfy chair when my tasks are complete!
One of the best books I have read recently is, (#af) You are a Badass- How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero. I use the Audible books while walking or at the gym. This book in particular, even though I have heard it once through, I keep listening to each day…you can literally put it on any point in the book and reinforce really great content. I loved it so much I bought a copy for my son and his girlfriend, as they are badasses in training, that just don’t realize it yet!
How about you? This is my perfect-to-me comfy spot, where is yours?
