This is definitely a Wonderful Wednesday in our house this week, as I anxiously await the arrival of my sister and her family. They will be here anytime.
I would describe her as crazy and fun, an artist, laid back, waited to have kids until she was in her 40’s (told you she was crazy), has the patience of a saint, is intuitive and internally kind.
By internally kind, I mean that she is consciously focused on the language she uses towards herself. When I randomly say something in conversation, like “Good God, I suck!” about something of which I am clearly lacking the necessary talent or skill set and she is right there, telling me, “Stop it. Don’t say that.” What is embarrassing to me is the number of times I do it without realizing I have, whether it be in my own frustration over something or in self deprecating jest. She helps me to be a better me and always leaves me thinking.
I can actually hear her now…when she reads this, she will shake her head and insist that I also have those attributes noted above. See, she makes me think, and she’s right. I do have them too. I can release some of my all or nothing thinking and allow myself enough grace to acknowledge that.
Author Jen Sincero uses a phrase, “Loosen your bone Wilma”. My sister allows me to loosen my bone so that I can both recognize and enjoy what I bring to the table. There aren’t many people in our lives that so graciously allow us to do that and I can tell you honestly, I can use a great big dose of all that right about now! How about you? Do you have a friend or family member that allows you to fully loosen your bone?
You will be hard pressed to have as much chattering, laughing, crying, giggling, and snorting as we will have this week but I still hope your Wednesday is truly Wonderful!
