  • 1 cup fresh pumpkin chunks peeled and cut into small pieces
  • 2 sticks cinnamon sticks optional for extra aroma
  • 1 teaspoon ground clove adjust for taste
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg freshly grated if possible
  • 1 orange orange peel freshly grated or sliced peel
  • 4 cups water enough to cover ingredients

Equipment

  • Stovetop pot
  • Lid

Method

  1. Place the pumpkin chunks and orange peel into a large pot.
  2. Add the cinnamon sticks, ground clove, and ground nutmeg to the pot for fragrant spices.
  3. Pour in water until all ingredients are submerged, then cover with a lid.
  4. Turn the stove to medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, listening for the soft bubbling sound.
  5. Reduce the heat to low once bubbling starts, allowing the ingredients to slowly infuse and release warm aromas for about 20-30 minutes.
  6. Carefully check the water level occasionally and add more hot water if needed to prevent dryness and burning.
  7. Remove the pot from heat once the aroma is fragrant and the pumpkin is soft when pierced.
  8. Scoop out the pumpkin pieces and orange peel if desired, or leave them simmering as an ongoing fragrant display.
  9. Enjoy the warm, spicy scent filling your space, perfect for cozy fall moments.

Notes

Adjust spice quantities to your preference. Refill with water as needed to maintain aroma. For an extra burst of scent, add additional orange peel or a splash of vanilla extract during simmering.
