Ingredients

  • 4 cups water preferably filtered
  • 4 whole cloves spiced bloom
  • 1 stick cinnamon to infuse warm aroma
  • 2 tbsp honey for sweetness
  • 1 medium orange zest and juice

Equipment

  • Medium pot
  • Measuring spoons

Method

  1. Pour the water into a medium pot and place it over medium heat.
  2. Add the whole cloves and cinnamon stick to the water, allowing them to sink and float gently as the water warms.
  3. Bring the mixture to a simmer, watching for gentle bubbles and releasing a warm, spicy aroma.
  4. Whisk in the honey and add the orange zest, stirring until the honey dissolves into the fragrant broth.
  5. Cut the orange in half and squeeze in the juice, then stir to combine all the flavors beautifully.
  6. Lower the heat and let the broth simmer uncovered for about 10-15 minutes, allowing the spices to bloom and the aromas to deepen.
  7. Strain out the whole spices and cinnamon stick, leaving behind a clear, scented broth filled with layers of autumnal fragrance.
  8. Pour the warm aromatic broth into cups or mugs, ready to serve and enjoy immediately for a cozy fall moment.

Notes

Feel free to add a splash of apple cider or a pinch of ground nutmeg for extra seasonal complexity. Keep an eye on the simmer to prevent burning of the spices, and strain out spices thoroughly for a smooth, flavorful broth.
