Ingredients

  • 8 slices slider buns preferably brioche or potato rolls
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce tangy and slightly spicy
  • 1 lb honey-glazed ham thinly sliced
  • 8 oz cheddar cheese or Monterey Jack, sliced
  • 2 small red onions thinly sliced
  • 8 pickles pickle slices optional for tang
  • 4 tbsp butter melted
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • to taste seasoned salt optional

Equipment

  • Baking dish or sheet
  • Small Bowl
  • Pastry brush
  • Sharp knife
  • Aluminum foil

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Slice the buns in half horizontally and lay the bottom halves in your baking dish. Spread a thin layer of barbecue sauce over the buns, creating a flavorful base.
  2. Thinly slice the honey-glazed ham and layer it evenly over the sauce on the buns, covering all the surface for maximum flavor.
  3. Place slices of cheddar cheese on top of the ham, ensuring each slider gets plenty of cheesy goodness.
  4. Add thin slices of red onion and pickle slices on top of the cheese for extra tang and crunch, if desired.
  5. Cover with the top half of the buns and press down gently to hold everything together.
  6. Melt the butter in a small bowl and stir in garlic powder, paprika, and seasoned salt to create seasoned butter. Brush this mixture generously over the tops of the buns with a pastry brush.
  7. Wrap the assembled sliders tightly in aluminum foil, sealing the edges to trap moisture and heat evenly.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and the buns are toasted to a golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven, carefully unwrap the foil, and let the sliders rest for 5 minutes to allow the cheese to set slightly.
  10. Slice the sliders into individual portions and serve hot, with extra barbecue sauce on the side for dipping or drizzling.

Notes

For extra flavor, toast the buns lightly before assembling. Feel free to customize with your favorite toppings or cheeses. These sliders are best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated wrapped in foil in the oven.
