Method
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef with salt and pepper, and mix until evenly incorporated. Shape the mixture into four evenly sized patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef patties and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through with an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C). Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the toppings by chopping or slicing your chosen ingredients. Measure out the pizza sauce and shredded cheese.
- Once the patties are cooled slightly, assemble each burger by spreading about 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce over the top of each patty. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese and toppings evenly over the sauce. Place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each assembled burger.
- Wrap each assembled burger tightly with plastic wrap or parchment paper, then place them on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 2 hours until firm.
- When ready to serve, cook the frozen pizza burger in a skillet or oven until heated through and cheese is melted, about 8-10 minutes, or bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15 minutes. Serve hot with your favorite sides.
Notes
For extra flavor, add herbs like oregano or basil before freezing. To prevent sticking, layer with parchment paper during freezing.
