- Pour apple cider into a large saucepan
- Heat over medium heat until warm
- Add cinnamon stick, cloves, orange peel, and optional ginger
- Bring just to a gentle simmer (small bubbles, no rolling boil), then reduce heat immediately to low.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20–30 minutes
- Stir in honey or maple syrup after simmering and after removing from heat for the cleanest flavor.
- Remove from heat and strain out spices
- Pour into mugs and serve warm
Notes
You can add fresh ginger slices or a splash of bourbon for extra warmth. Adjust sweetness to your preference, and enjoy this cozy, aromatic drink during chilly evenings.
Add bourbon only after pouring into mugs, not during simmering.
