  • 4 cups water preferably filtered
  • 2 cinnamon sticks cinnamon sticks whole
  • 4 cloves whole cloves
  • 1 orange orange peel fresh, sliced into strips
  • 1 teaspoon dried ginger optional, for extra warmth

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Ladle

Method

  1. Pour water into a medium saucepan and add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, orange peel, and dried ginger if using.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, producing soft bubbling and fragrant steam.
  3. Reduce the heat to low to maintain a gentle simmer, allowing the spices to release their aroma without boiling vigorously.
  4. Let the mixture simmer quietly for about 15-20 minutes, as the liquid darkens slightly and the aroma intensifies, filling your space with warm, spicy notes.
  5. Taste the infusion; if flavorful enough, turn off the heat and remove from the stove.
  6. Use a ladle to carefully pour the fragrant liquid into cups or bowls, leaving behind the spice solids or straining if desired for a clearer presentation.

Notes

Adjust spice quantities for stronger or milder fragrance. You can also add other citrus peels or a splash of vanilla extract for variation.
