Method
- Prepare the ingredients by cutting fresh watermelon into large chunks, removing seeds if present. Measure out lime juice and tequila, and set all ingredients nearby.4 cups fresh watermelon chunks
- Add the watermelon chunks to a blender and blend on high until completely broken down into a smooth, slightly pulpy mixture, about 30-45 seconds.4 cups fresh watermelon chunks
- Pour the blended watermelon into the blender again or directly into a mixing container. Add lime juice and tequila, then blend briefly to combine everything evenly. Blend until the mixture is smooth with some pulp visible, about 10 seconds.2 tbsp lime juice, 3 oz tequila
- Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes for a more refreshing serving temperature. Optionally, rim your cocktail glasses with salt by rubbing lime around the edge and dipping into salt.1 pinch salt
- Pour the watermelon margarita into chilled glasses. Garnish with a small wedge of lime or a small piece of watermelon if desired. Serve immediately, noticing the vibrant pink hue and slightly chunky texture.
Notes
For a smoother drink, strain the mixture through a fine sieve after blending. Adjust sweetness by adding a splash of simple syrup if desired. Best enjoyed fresh the same day.
