  1. Prepare the ingredients by cutting fresh watermelon into large chunks, removing seeds if present. Measure out lime juice and tequila, and set all ingredients nearby.

  2. Add the watermelon chunks to a blender and blend on high until completely broken down into a smooth, slightly pulpy mixture, about 30-45 seconds.
    4 cups fresh watermelon chunks
  3. Pour the blended watermelon into the blender again or directly into a mixing container. Add lime juice and tequila, then blend briefly to combine everything evenly. Blend until the mixture is smooth with some pulp visible, about 10 seconds.
2 tbsp lime juice, 3 oz tequila
  4. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes for a more refreshing serving temperature. Optionally, rim your cocktail glasses with salt by rubbing lime around the edge and dipping into salt.
    1 pinch salt
  5. Pour the watermelon margarita into chilled glasses. Garnish with a small wedge of lime or a small piece of watermelon if desired. Serve immediately, noticing the vibrant pink hue and slightly chunky texture.

Notes

For a smoother drink, strain the mixture through a fine sieve after blending. Adjust sweetness by adding a splash of simple syrup if desired. Best enjoyed fresh the same day.
